JOMOBEL NV:The main purpose of this company is the management, the representation and the promotion of new and protected varieties and the management and the granting of licenses of these varieties. Applying for Plant Breeders' Rights, Plant Patents and Trademarks all over the world also belongs to its purposes. Jomobel nv requires that the propagation material of its protected varieties meets the highest requirements. She takes care that these varieties are multiplied with propagation material coming from virus free mother trees which have specially been selected on colour, fruit quality and productivity. For this she manages an own Mother Tree Block under the supervision and control of the inspection department of the Belgian Ministry of Agriculture. To be able to observe its varieties on a broader scale, these varieties are planted in its own fruit company which is completely ecologically cultivated. MORREN & JOROFRU NV:This company is responsible for the purchase and sales, the storage, the packing, the fruit trade, the nursery of trees and rootstocks and the promotion. The fruit is being stored in computer-controlled Ultra Low Oxygen cold store rooms. It is packed in an own special designed packaging or according to the wishes of the client and promoted under its own quality label Jorofru®. The nursery of rootstocks consists mainly of M9 and is especially destined for its own nursery of trees. The nursery is known for its high quality trees which are propagated under the control of the inspection department of the Belgian Ministry of Agriculture, with propagation material coming from virus free mother trees which have specially been selected on colour, fruit quality and productivity. Therefore, we can guarantee you healthy, vigorous trees on virus free rootstocks. Because the trunks are cleaned up to a height of 60-65 cm for the one-year old trees and up to a height of 70-75 cm for the two-year old trees, ramification starts at the most useful height. Morren & Jorofru nv is also responsible for the necessary promotional work towards the fruitgrower and the fruit trade by e.g. sending mailings and participating to national and international fairs and congresses. JOS MORREN FAMILY FARM:Of course there is still the Jos Morren Family Farm. For the two above-mentioned companies together with the family farm, the total area of the fruit tree nursery amounts to about 21 ha, mainly of apple trees. The orchards together are about 65 ha divided between 14.5 ha of pears and 50.5 ha of apples. Like most Belgian fruit companies the planted pear varieties are also here Conference, Doyenne du Comice and Durondeau. Concerning the apple orchards there are 40 ha planted with Jonagored and the remaining 10.5 ha are divided between Jonagold Excel 2000®, Bel-EL-Red-Elswout®, Rafszubin-Rubinette® and Boskoop SHS. As a pollinator for the apple trees James Grieve, Gloster, Idared, Elstar, Golden Delicious, Rafszubin-Rubinette® and Siermalus are being used. In these orchards different plant systems are being used, since we keep on searching for newer and better plant systems. |
